Motorcyclist killed after police say he crashed into a light pole

Witnesses say he lost control of his bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

SAN ANTONIO — A motorcyclist was killed after he lost control of his bike and crashed into a light pole on the northwest side of the city late Tuesday night, police say.

San Antonio Police were called out to Steubing Parkway at Katma Lane, not far from De Zavala Road, around 9:40 a.m. for reports of a motorcycle crash.

Witnesses say he lost control of his bike before crashing into the pole and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported. 

According to SAPD, so far this year, there have been eight motorcycle fatalities. In 2023, SAPD recorded 27 total motorcycle fatalities for the year.
