SAN ANTONIO — A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition following a major accident on the northeast side Monday afternoon, San Antonio authorities say.
San Antonio emergency responders were called to a vehicle accident on Rittiman Road and Goldfield Drive around 3 p.m.
Police say a motorcyclist was heading westbound on Rittiman Road, planning to turn left on Goldfield Drive when he collided with a taxi at the intersection. The taxi had reportedly turned in front of the motorcycle and the motorcyclist could not stop in time.
The motorcyclist was identified as a man in his 30s or 40s and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He sustained two broken wrists, a broken hip and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to SAPD.
Police say the taxi driver remained at the scene and was not injured in the accident.
