KERR COUNTY, Texas — An officer-involved shooting that concluded in Kerr County left a suspect dead, Gillespie County officials say.
A deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle at about 6 p.m. Wednesday night. Officials say the motorcyclist did not stop, leading to a pursuit that ended on Interstate 10 in Kerr County.
When the motorcycle stopped, the driver allegedly took out a handgun and pointed it at the deputy. An officer-involved shooting then took place.
Despite life-saving measures taken by the deputy, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy was not injured in the shooting.
According to preliminary investigation, the motorcycle involved was reported stolen out of Canada.
Texas DPS has taken the lead in this investigation, as is standard procedure for officer-involved shooting.
The driver has not been identified at this time.
