Movies, parties, family-friendly activities to be held at Hemisfair during summer 2025

The events are open to the public.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonians can enjoy a multitude of family-friendly activities in the heart of downtown during the next few summer months. 

Hemisfair announced a lineup of free events including movie screenings, dance parties, fitness events and more – solidifying that the urban district will be holding special events nearly every day from June through August. 

Tuesdays

 “Movies by Moonlight” will return to Hemisfair every Tuesday evening from June to July. Attendees can grab a blanket or chair and head to the Great Lawn to see a wholesome outdoor movie. The screenings are typically dog-themed with pet-friendly activities. 

Preshow activities for “Movies by Moonlight” begin at 7 p.m. Food vendors will be on site but attendees can also visit nearby eateries like Dough Pizzeria Napoletana or Bombay Bicycle Club. 

Free parking will be available in city lots after 5 p.m. as part of Downtown Tuesdays.

  • July 1: Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey
  • July 8: Scooby-Doo: The Movie (2002)
  • July 15: Air Bud
  • July 22: A Goofy Movie
  • July 29: Best in Show

Thursdays 

The summer dance party series, Disco Alfresco will be held at Civic Park every Thursday night starting June 5 through July 31 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. According to a press release, the park will be transformed into a dance floor with music from local DJ’s.  All ages are welcome to attend and no shoes are required. 

Weekend

Super Fun Saturdays – After Dark will be held at Yanaguana Garden. On these days, Hemisfair offers themed-night activities, crafts, interactive games and performances. The free community events will be held for 3 Saturday’s during the summer. H-E-B will be sponsoring the event. 

Themed nights for Super Fun Saturdays: 

  • June 7: Jurassic Jamboree
  • July 12: Christmas in July
  • August 16: Glow Dance Party

Twice a month, attendees can enjoy Free Community Yoga and the Sunday Brunch Market. The yoga event is an all-level outdoor class in Civic Park. The market will have several local vendors, brunch bites and drinks. 

Additional events  

San Antonians who are trying to get out of the heat can also visit the Union Pacific Railroad Splash Pad in Yanaguana Garden, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. or The Springs at Civic Park 

Parking 

There are multiple parking options near Hemisfair, including their public parking garage located at 623 Hemisfair Boulevard. The area is also fully accessible for strollers and wheelchairs.
