
SAN ANTONIO – Multiple lanes in both directions of Interstate 37 south of downtown San Antonio are closed Thursday morning due to a major crash where a driver struck a traffic pole.
The crash was reported just before 6 a.m. on I-37 South at Fair Avenue. As of 7 a.m., southbound I-37 traffic is backed up past Interstate 10.

Debris from the first crash caused another collision on the northbound lanes. Northbound I-37 traffic was backed up to Hot Wells Boulevard.
TxDOT and other emergency crews responded to the scene. Southbound lanes are expected to be closed for some time since the crash involved a highway sign.
