FRANKLIN COUNTY, Texas — Investigators say multiple capital murder warrants will be issued after a missing East Texas man was found dead Saturday.
Larry Murl Smith was reported missing on Feb. 13 in Franklin County. The sheriff’s office and other investigators searched several areas until his body was found at State Highway 37 on the Franklin and Red River County line on the Sulfur River.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, people of interest were arrested on unrelated charges. But soon, the FCSO said multiple capital murder warrants will be issued.
“I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Larry Smith,” Sheriff Ricky S. Jones said. “Knew that we are committed to seeking justice and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.”


Jones thanked all the agencies that assisted in the search for Smith, including the Mt. Vernon Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office and others.
