KENDALL COUNTY, Texas — Emergency crews flocked to the Kendall County Fair Grounds after a section of the bleachers seating area appeared to have collapsed Saturday night.
The emergency was first confirmed by the Kendall County Office of Emergency Management, which said in a Facebook post that “part of the new stadium did collapse.”
Boerne Fire officials said around 9:15 p.m., local first responders were dispatched to the Kendall County Fairgrounds, located in the 1300 block of River Road, for reports of a partial collapse of the seating at the rodeo arena.
Authorities confirmed several people were injured and were taken to a local hospital to be treated.
Videos and images circulating on social media showed a large number of people scattered at the area and crime scene tape set up around the collapsed bleachers. Ambulances were also on-scene.
The fair will remain closed the rest of Saturday night.
