After Goynes was read her rights, she reportedly “confessed to shooting the victim, taking his truck and setting it on fire” before trying to escape in a kayak.
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed a murder suspect has been extradited back to Bexar County after being found trying to escape via kayak in Calhoun County, where her husband was found dead in a closet with a gunshot wound to the face.
On Dec. 23, 2024, BCSO conducted a welfare check after receiving a request from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office to do so.
The check resulted in deputies finding a man dead in a closet, with a gunshot wound to his face.
Investigators realized that Calhoun County deputies were also responding to reports of a vehicle fire in Port O’Connor, where witnesses say they saw a woman attempting to extinguish the fire by herself.
The woman, later identified as Faith Goynes, was later found paddling away in a kayak. The ID of the deceased male found in the closet was in the possession of Goynes when she was located.
Authorities brought Goynes back to the scene of the fire where she was able to confirm the vehicle had belonged to the victim.
After officials read Goynes her rights, she reportedly “confessed to shooting the victim, taking his truck and setting it on fire.”
On Thursday, Goynes was extradited from Calhoun County back to Bexar County on her murder warrant.
Goynes has been booked into the Bexar County Jail.
