Mustang Island undergoing prescribed burn, controlled fires Tuesday

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas Parks and Wildlife is conducting prescribed fires at Mustang Island State Park on Tuesday. The controlled fire treatments are time sensitive and depend on environmental conditions. These treatments are important for maintaining healthy prairie and marsh ecosystems and habitats.

These activities will impact the following areas and require closures of the following areas and features:

Texas Parks and Wildlife said some smoke may linger for a few days after the burn is complete. 

Beach camping is closed for the day. 

These areas will be reopened to public use after the burn treatment is complete.
