
SAN ANTONIO — Friday, The NBA announced San Antonio Spurs Head Coach Mitch Johnson was named Western Conference Coach of the Month for December.
Johnson earns his first career Coach of the Month award after guiding the Spurs to a league-best 11-3 record, including a run to the Emirates NBA Cup Championship Game and a 6-1 road record in December. San Antonio’s slate featured three victories over the NBA champions, Oklahoma City.
From Dec. 8-25, the Spurs recorded an eight-game winning streak, averaging 121.4 points per game and holding opponents to 115.0, posting an offensive rating of 118.9 (fifth in the NBA) and a defensive rating of 112.0 (sixth), while leading the league in defensive rebounding percentage (74.3).
Boston Celtics Head Coach Joe Mazzulla, the December Eastern Conference Coach of the Month, joins Johnson.
