SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama has taken the NBA by storm, and his star is rising fast.

Whether he is dazzling fans on the court, the center of attention on an international stage, promoting Louis Vuitton, or seeing his jersey among the top-selling in the NBA, Wemby is undoubtedly on his way to being a force.

So it is no surprise that his NBA colleagues have tapped him as the league’s next face.

In an anonymous player poll via The Athletic, the Spurs center won the survey, with a whopping 54% of player votes, as the next face of the NBA. The next player behind Wemby was Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, with just 13% of votes.

Wemby has been open about him becoming the league’s No. 1 guy, saying he will embrace the title if and when it is bestowed upon him.

However, to be the face of the NBA, he’ll need some measure of postseason success, deep playoff runs, and titles under his belt.

If he does become the face of the NBA, he would likely be the first international star to make it.

“[He will] be a face of the league for a lot of years,” said Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo in January.
