NBA to announce Rookie of the Year Finalists on Sunday; Austin Spurs players recognized by G League

The NBA will announce the 2024-25 Rookie of the Year finalists on April 20, with Stephon Castle having a high likelihood of winning.

SAN ANTONIO — The NBA announced that the 2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year Award Finalists will be announced on Sunday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. CST, on TNT along with the other performance awards, including Coach of the Year, MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and more.

It is widely agreed upon that San Antonio Spurs rookie sensation Stephon Castle will be named the NBA’s Rookie of the Year.

Castle led all rookies in several statistical categories: points scored (1,070), steals (69), and field goals made and attempted. He also ended his rookie campaign averaging 14.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.

He twice won the NBA Rookie of the Month Award and exploded in March, posting 20.6 points per game on 49% shooting.

He will likely not be a unanimous pick, but Castle will likely take home the award. The Spurs would now have back-to-back Rookie of the Year Award winners, with Victor Wembanyama winning it after the 2023-24 season.
