SPURS HOST ‘CHAMPIONS FOR CHANGE’

The Spurs recently hosted their second annual “Champions for Change” event on Friday, Jan. 23, at the Victory Capital Performance Center.

The theme of the event was “Kicks for a Cause.” Spurs players, coaches, and community members gathered for an evening dedicated to philanthropy and entertainment. The event featured interactive games, exclusive experiences, and opportunities for attendees to connect with Spurs players and staff, all while raising funds for local initiatives.

The event raised over $450,000 to support community initiatives that align with Spurs Give’s mission of advancing access, healing, wellness, and fostering a sense of belonging. The funds will directly benefit programs and organizations in San Antonio.

“Champions for Change reflects the deep connection between the Spurs and the community we are deeply rooted in,” said Corinna Holt Richter, Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) Board of Representatives Member & Spurs Give Board Chair, in a release. “By bringing together our players, partners, and community, we are celebrating the spirit of San Antonio as well as investing in efforts that create lasting, meaningful impact. It’s powerful and exciting to see so many people come together in support of our city.”

This year’s theme, “Kicks for a Cause,” featured the Spurs collaborating with nine local artists to create custom sneakers inspired by each player, with designs reflecting each player’s individual personalities, stories, and style.
