NBA’s Adam Silver hints at a possible Spurs return to France

There’s little doubt a Spurs return to Paris will be a success.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs made a trip to Paris, France, this season for a pair of games against the Pacers, and it was an overwhelming success.

For example, the NBA noted that the 2025 NBA Paris Games set records across TV viewership and digital and social media engagement.

According to the league, it was the most-viewed NBA Global Games ever on social media, generating more than 718 million views across all platforms.

In addition, it was the most-watched NBA game ever on television in France (both games aired live on beIN SPORTS and Canal+). NBA League Pass viewership was up 29% in France compared to last year’s Paris Game.

With that kind of success, the NBA is not putting off a return trip to France.

“I can say that we will be back playing a regular-season game again in Paris. There’s some discussions ongoing about which arena we will play in,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said during the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend.

And the Spurs might be included in the return plans to Victor Wembanyama’s home country.

“Stay tuned in terms of the Spurs playing in Paris,” said Silver. “It’s certainly something that he (Wembanyama) very much would like to see, his team, the San Antonio Spurs, playing in Paris.”

There’s little doubt a Spurs return to Paris will be a success.

The Spurs-France connection is strong with past players such as Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, Ian Mahinmi, and Sidy Cissoko.

In addition, Spurs games pack French arenas.

According to the NBA, Game 1 of the Spurs-Pacers Paris Games set several records in television viewership and digital and social media engagement.

According to the league, that game was the most-watched regular-season NBA game ever on French television. Also, NBA League Pass viewership was up 41% in France and 19% globally compared to last year’s Paris Game.

And the “Wemby effect” was strong.

Content featuring Wembanyama in Paris made him the second-most-viewed NBA player on the league’s social media accounts this season (817 million views).
