Five community leaders will be recognized ahead of the final tournament games of the year.
SAN ANTONIO — This weekend, the best in college basketball will convene on one floor in San Antonio.
Four teams – Duke, Houston, Florida and Auburn – are vying for the National Championship at the Alamodome.
But while San Antonio is bringing out the best of the NCAA, the NCAA is bringing out the best of us.
Each year, the NCAA selects local residents from their host city as their Legends & Legacy Community Award winners. According to the NCAA, the award recognizes local community builders who commit their time, resources and influence to improve and invest in their local communities—the Final Four host cities for the men’s and women’s college basketball championships.
The honorees will be recognized during in-game activities at the Final Four.
Here are the recipients:
- Juan G. Ayala, director of military and veteran affairs at City of San Antonio
- Jane Macon, partner at Bracewell LLP
- Darryl Byrd, chief growth and strategy officer, perfected claims and managing principal at ULTRAte Strategy & Advisors
