Need food or essential items? Here’s some free community food pantries across the San Antonio area

San Antonians can pick up free food and essentials at community pantries – open to everyone, no questions asked.

SAN ANTONIO — With the holidays approaching, San Antonio’s community food pantries are seeking donations and opening their shelves to families in need of a little help.

These volunteer-run pantries offer free food and essentials to anyone in need, and rely on community support to keep going. Many accept both food donations and monetary contributions through CashApp.

Here are a few of the local pantries residents can support or visit for help:

  • Harlandale Sunshine Pantry – 935 Drury Lane | CashApp: $TheHSPantry1020
  • West Side Community Pantry – 3203 W. Houston St. | CashApp: $westsidepantry
  • Casita de Esperanza Pantry – 5007 Benham | CashApp: $DeniseGTG
  • Tierra Linda Pantry n ClosetCashApp: $TierraLindaFunds
  • Free Little Pantry – 816 S. Colorado
  • Los Jardines Pantry & Fridge – 149 Jesse Ave
  • Jovita Pantry & Fridge – 1527 San Francisco
  • Little Stellar Shelf – 306 Timberlane Dr
  • Santa Monica Food Pantry – 1220 Santa Monica

Organizers say every donation, whether it’s a few canned goods or a small monetary gift, makes a difference in keeping food available for local families. Together, the community hopes to keep shelves stocked and neighbors supported year-round.

The Harlandale Sunshine Pantry, run by Lotus Rios, also provides hot meal distributions during the holidays

If you know of any more community pantries that should be added to the list, feel free to email us.
