NEISD will open its boundaries next school year, allowing students from San Antonio and beyond to apply for enrollment, based on various criteria.
SAN ANTONIO — North East Independent School District has approved a major change that will allow students from across San Antonio and surrounding communities to apply to attend the district beginning next school year.
During its April 13 regular meeting, the NEISD Board of Trustees voted to open district boundaries for the 2026-27 academic year, according to the district.
Under the new policy, families who live outside traditional attendance zones, including those outside NEISD boundaries, will be eligible to apply for enrollment. The district said applications will open April 20.
According to district officials, student applications will be evaluated based on attendance records, academic performance, campus capacity and discipline history.
The district said families who want updates before the application window opens can visit the district’s website to sign up for additional information and reminders.
District officials said families with questions can contact NEISD’s communications office for more information.
