Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards playfully throws shade at Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama in a new Adidas commercial.
SAN ANTONIO — Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards and Adidas recently released a new sneaker commercial celebrating his 2026 West All-Star selection.
Obviously, the focus is on his signature Adidas sneakers, but the commercial also throws jabs at several NBA players, including San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama.
Edwards is seen putting on virtual glasses to take on some of the league’s premier players when a digital version of Wemby, appearing in green alien skin with his long wingspan, tries to defend Edwards’ shot.
Edwards scoffs and takes a verbal shot at Wemby’s thin frame, saying “weight room” as he makes the shot over the Spurs center.
It is all in fun, but Edwards’ Adidas commercial isn’t just the first time someone has taken a jab at Wembanyama.
Suns’ Dillon Brooks boldly claimed he has Wemby’s “number” and that Wemby “panics” when facing the Phoenix forward.
Speaking with YouTube influencer N3on, Brooks was blunt, stating he can handle Wemby with ease and that Wemby panics when Brooks applies defensive pressure.
“I have his number. Go check that up, and he knows it too,” he said. “That’s the one guy in the NBA that I have his number and everybody is taking that blueprint at guarding him.”
Brooks did not stop there; he explained his approach to defending Wemby.
“You never guard him with a big,” he said. “You got to put a guard on him. Crawl up all in his space. Guard him tight the whole time and not let him set up dribbles and then keep him away from the rim.”
Said Brooks: “[He] panics.”
Looks like Wemby will have plenty of motivation when he takes on Edwards and Brooks throughout his career.
