New Braunfels city officials warn of scam emails targeting local businesses

If someone does get the email, they’re asked to contact the planning and services department immediately.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — Another scam is going around and this time it’s targeting business owners in New Braunfels.

The city says over the last two days, local businesses have received emails claiming to be formal notice from the city about pending payments due for planning and development fees.

The email includes an attachment with an official looking invoice and how businesses can wire the funds.

In a press release the city was not specific with exactly how many emails were sent. City officials want people to know that all planning and development fees are sent through an online systemand people pay through that system only.

The City of New Braunfels reiterates they will never ask for a wire to pay fees and other charges. They will never invoice someone via email either.

If someone does get the email, they’re asked to contact the planning and services department immediately.

The city reminds people to be cautious and say all emails from city employees will come from a “newbranfels.gov” email address.
