New Braunfels police search for third suspect in shooting at Applebee’s parking lot

Police said a 19-year-old male from New Braunfels and a 20-year-old female from Comal County suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to BAMC in San Antonio.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — The New Braunfels Police Department says it is searching for a third suspect in a deadly shooting Oct. 1 at an Applebee’s parking lot.

Officials say officers arrived at the restaurant on the 900 block of the I-35 North frontage road around 12:20 a.m. for a report of a shooting. That’s where officials say two victims were found inside of a vehicle in the parking lot.

Police said a 19-year-old male from New Braunfels and a 20-year-old female from Comal County both suffered gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began life saving measures until paramedics arrived and both victims were transported to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio.

Officials said the 19-year-old male died later from his injuries. He was identified by NBPD as Chance Herron. 

Two people have so far been arrested in connection to the crime. 20-year old Justin Xavier Sherard of New Braunfels was arrested on October 10 in New Braunfels and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. 20-year old Jacob Rowser of Converse was arrested on October 8 in Alabama by members of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. He is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and is awaiting extradition back to San Antonio.

The third suspect police are looking for is 20-year old Richard Rosas of Converse. Police provided a photo (below) but say he may have lost weight since the crime happened.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact New Braunfels Police or Comal County Crime Stoppers. A reward of up to $4,000 is being offered by Crime Stoppers for information leading to an arrest.
