New Braunfels teens charged after police find Nazi flags and racial slur spray painted at local park

The graffiti was found outside the restrooms at Eikel Park.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — The grim discovery was made on the morning of June 8. That’s when the New Braunfels Police Department began investigating a graffiti incident at Eikel Park. Captain of the New Braunfels Police Department Michael Penshorn says the four teens ages 14 – 16 each received Class B Misdemeanors for graffiti.

“Really important for us to cover it up as quickly as we did,” Penshorn said. “We make every effort to make sure that not only that these things don’t happen in our community, but if they do happen, we will find the people involved and we will bring justice very swiftly.”

Thanks to video surveillance the department was able to develop leads quickly.

“The juvenile authorities, basically we hand it off to them and however they see fit in prosecuting the case, it’s up to them,” Penshorn said.

One thing the police department will not tolerate is criminal activity as means to solving boredom.

“It’s really important for parents to know where their kids are at, because if they’re out and about at 1 or 2 o’clock in the morning, they’re probably up to no good,” he said. “Eikel Park it’s been here for a long time, and we really want to keep it nice for our community and that’s why things like this are pretty important for us to follow up on.”
