Bexar County deputies arrested Diana Yvette Salazar and Kassandra Sias on human smuggling charges on Saturday.
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — New details have emerged in the arrest of two women who the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says were running a human smuggling operation.
This happened on Saturday after deputies were tipped off that one of them was picking up undocumented migrants at a truck stop in Von Ormy.
Bexar County deputies arrested Diana Yvette Salazar and Kassandra Sias on human smuggling charges.
Deputies say Salazar already has a history of doing this.
BCSO says they tracked Salazar picking up two men at the Love’s Truck Stop on I-35 and Fischer Road to then head to her home on Hays Street.
Deputies saw the men enter her home, and a short time later saw Salazar get into her car with a man and two children.
When deputies initiated a traffic stop, they say Victorino Ramirez tried to run away, but was arrested on evading charges.
Salazar was also detained.
Kassandra Sias left Salazar’s home later and when deputies stopped her, they discovered her passenger, Merced Pena, is an undocumented migrant.
Salazar and Sias are being charged with organized criminal activity and human smuggling.
They’re both in the Bexar County Jail on bonds totaling $150,000 and $200,000.
