New dining options could soon be added to San Antonio International Airport

The airport says 75% of the selected concepts are locally rooted, giving travelers a unique taste of the area while supporting local businesses.

SAN ANTONIO — Hungry while waiting for your flight? Travelers may soon have even more food options when they go through San Antonio International Airport after a city council meeting Wednesday.

Leaders of the airport provided a briefing to city council recommending new food and beverage concessions to the Terminal B Food Court, as well as a new parking structure and the Ground Transportation Center.

“With a focus on the post-security food court in Terminal B, a curated mix of dining concepts from HMS Host/True Flavors will enhance the overall customer experience,” a representative of the airport said.

The airport says 75% of the selected concepts are locally rooted, giving travelers a unique taste of the area while supporting local businesses.

Confirmed additions include:

  • 2M BBQ: “A San Antonio barbeque favorite, the airport location of 2M BBQ will offer a quick serve version of its popular streetside restaurant, featuring signature brisket, sausage, and barbacoa.”
  • The Tasting Room: “A relaxed wine bar showcasing selections from Becker Vineyards and other Texas Hill Country favorites. Travelers can enjoy a tasting experience in an inviting setting or grab food to go.”
  • Bakery Lorraine: “A beloved local bakery offering high-quality baked goods, including warm frittatas and croissants in the morning, sandwiches and salads in the afternoon, and their signature macarons and baked goods all day.”
  • Popeye’s: “The globally recognized chain will bring its bold Cajun flavors to SAT, offering quick meals to-go or for dine-in, with favorites like spicy bone-in chicken and breakfast biscuits.”

Existing concessions concepts, including Whataburger, La Gloria, Smoke Shack, Beer Code, Adina’s Market, Boss’ Bagels and Starbucks, will remain.

Other concepts from Host and Paradies Lagardere that were approved by the council last year, including Southerleigh, Feliz Modern, Tre Trattoria, Military City USA, Univision, Pharm Table, Freight Chicken, iStore, and more, will also be added to the airport in the coming months.

In addition to the tasty new restaurants, a new parking structure and Ground Transportation Center is set to be designed and constructed.

In order to address increasing passenger traffic and mobility needs, “the initiative will provide expanded public parking, accommodating up to 2,000 vehicles, and offer travelers a centralized location for ground transportation options, including shuttles, rideshares, taxis and future mobility services.”

It will also be built to accommodate development of an Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landings operations area.

“This is a pivotal moment for SAT,” Jesus Saenz, director of airports at SAAS, said. “These initiatives are about more than just keeping pace with the growth of the region; they’re about leading the way in delivering a world-class travel experience.”
