New Harbor Bridge a symbol of growth and opportunity, city leaders say

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — After years of planning, construction and anticipation, the new Harbor Bridge is finally a reality and city leaders said it’s more than just a structure.

They describe the bridge as a symbol of transformation, representing how far Corpus Christi has come and where it’s headed next.

Officials believe the new bridge will play a key role in boosting trade and attracting investment to the region.

While the focus is on the future, Mayor Paulette Guajardo also took time to reflect on the past.

“As we retire the original Harbor Bridge, which was built back in 1959, we honor its legacy while embracing the promise of what’s next. This new bridge is a symbol of growth. It is a symbol of resilience and pride in the place we all call home,” Guajardo said.

With the bridge now open, city leaders say the Coastal Bend is likely to see more jobs and economic opportunities. The mayor added that Corpus Christi is ready and open for business.
