City leaders say the new space is designed for all skill levels as part of ongoing park improvements in District 3.
SAN ANTONIO — A new place to shred—whether you’re just starting out or already pulling off gnarly tricks is opening on San Antonio’s south side.
City leaders will celebrate the debut of a brand-new skate park at Southside Lions Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, April 13 at 10 a.m.
The park is built for skaters of all levels, featuring smooth transitions and street-style elements like rails, ledges and banks, perfect for a casual sesh or leveling up your skills. Organizers say the goal is to create a space where the community can ride, learn and have a rad time doing it.
The project is part of the city’s 2022–2027 bond program, with about $1.25 million invested into improvements at the park, including new recreational amenities.
City officials, including Phyllis Viagran, say the new skate park is about more than just skating, it’s about giving the community a place to gather, stay active and express themselves.
The ribbon cutting, hosted by city departments and District 3 leaders, invites residents to come out, check it out and be part of the first ride.
