New York sheriff’s office shares the sad news of K9’s passing

In a social media post made on Monday the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office shared the sad news that one of their K9’s recently passed away.

NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office shared some sad news Monday morning that one of their beloved K9’s passed away on March 4.

Taz, a German Shepard Belgian Malinois had first joined the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office in 2012, and served with two handlers during his time at the jail. 

In a social media post, the Sheriff’s Office shared that Taz had achieved multiple certifications during his time working such as advanced narcotics detection, building searches, tracking, area searches, criminal apprehensions, and tactical operations.

“What Taz will be most fondly remembered for by the community, is his friendly demeanor, especially towards children. Taz was very popular at the many events he attended, and loved to spend time with the public. Taz was one of a kind, and will be sorrowfully missed. Good boy, Taz – thank you from your family at NCSO,” NCSO wrote in their post.
