NFL, Cowboys teammates react to death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland

The NFL, Dallas sports fixtures and Marshawn Kneeland’s teammates expressed sympathy and grief in the aftermath of his death.

DALLAS — In the hours after the Dallas Cowboys announced the death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, messages of grief and sympathy poured out from Dallas and the NFL. 

According to the team, Kneeland, 24, died on the morning of Nov. 6. The circumstances surronding his death are still unknown.

He was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft from Western Michigan University. Less than a week before his death, he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown in the Cowboys’ 27-17 loss to Arizona

“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning. Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family,” the Dallas Cowboys said in a statement.

His death shook the NFL and the Dallas sports world. Several of his teammates shared messages of grief as the league mourns.
