SAN ANTONIO — A gun was discovered at John M. Harlan High School on Thursday morning, according to the Northside Independent School District.
District officials said they received a report that a student may have been in possession of a “prohibited item,” prompting school administrators and the NISD Police Department to locate the individual.
Officials said a search was conducted, and an unloaded gun was found and confiscated without incident. The school entered a SECURE status for an undisclosed amount of time.
According to NISD, no threats were made against the campus or any students or staff. School administrators and NISD police are handling the incident, and the individual will be disciplined.
“We take this violation of safety protocols very seriously. The safety of our Hawks is our absolute priority. We are grateful for the quick response of our staff and law enforcement to ensure our campus remained secure,” Principal Rick Yzaguirre said in a statement.
No other information was provided.
