No results for ‘Selena’ on SHEIN after lawsuit filed by Q Productions

Suzette Quintanilla and Q Productions have filed a federal lawsuit accusing Shein of selling unauthorized Selena merchandise, according to court documents.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The family of Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla-Pérez has filed a federal lawsuit accusing fast-fashion retailer Shein of selling unauthorized merchandise using the singer’s name and likeness, according to court documents obtained by 3NEWS.

The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in California by Q Productions Inc. and Suzette Quintanilla, Selena’s sister. The complaint names Shein Distribution Corporation, Shein US Services LLC and Shein Technology LLC as defendants.

According to the filing, Shein designed, marketed and sold clothing that feature Selena’s name, likeness and branding without authorization from Selena’s estate or Q Productions.

The complaint states Q Productions owns federally registered trademarks tied to the name “Selena,” which have been used in connection with merchandise and entertainment services for decades.

Q Productions, based in Corpus Christi, manages licensing and intellectual property tied to Selena’s name and brand.

Attorneys for Quintanilla and Q Productions allege the products were advertised and sold through Shein’s website, social media platforms and other retail channels across the United States.

According to the lawsuit, Q Productions sent Shein a cease-and-desist letter in August 2025 demanding the company stop selling the merchandise. The complaint alleges the products continued to be marketed and sold afterward.

The filing accuses Shein of federal trademark infringement, trademark dilution, unfair competition and misuse of Selena’s name and likeness for commercial purposes.

The plaintiffs are asking the court to block Shein from selling the products and to award damages, including profits earned from the merchandise and attorneys’ fees.

They are also demanding a trial by jury.
