Noise complaint turns deadly in early-morning shooting on west-side, police say

A noise complaint in San Antonio turned deadly when a verbal altercation escalated into a shooting, leaving one man dead and Paul Flores, 40, charged with murder.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is dead following a shooting on the west side of San Antonio early Sunday morning, and a suspect is now facing a murder charge.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Cincinnati Avenue around 5:18 a.m. on Dec. 21, for a reported shooting in progress.

When officers arrived, they found the male victim suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds. Officers immediately attempted life-saving measures before the man was taken to a local hospital in life-threatening condition.

Police say investigators learned the suspect, identified as Paul Flores, 40, went to the home to address a noise complaint. During the interaction with the complainant and other tenants, officers say a verbal altercation escalated into a physical fight, first in the front yard of the home and then into the street.

According to police, Flores allegedly pulled out a firearm and fired multiple rounds at the complainant.

The victim later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced dead.

Flores was taken into custody and booked on a charge of murder.

Police emphasize this remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional details may be released as detectives continue their work.
