North East ISD has appointed Anthony Jarrett as interim superintendent, succeeding Sean Maika, who is resigning after six years.
SAN ANTONIO — The North East ISD Board of Trustees voted Monday on a new interim superintendent after Sean Maika announced his resignation.
Maika announced last month he was stepping down from leading the district where he’s been superintendent for six years. He’d been with the district in various roles since 1995. His last work day with NEISD will be Jan. 12, however his resignation officially takes effect March 31.
At Monday’s meeting, the board of trustees voted to appoint Chief Instructional Officer Anthony Jarrett to lead the district on an interim basis as they search for a permanent replacement for Maika.
“Mr. Jarrett and I have worked closely over the past six years. I have no doubt our District is being left in good hands with him at the helm,” Maika said.
Jarrett has worked in public education for more than 25 years, according to the district, including six years with NEISD.
“I’m thrilled to build on the great work we’ve been doing and to explore new learning opportunities for all our students,” Jarrett said. “I’m eager to collaborate with our amazing staff and families to ensure we provide the best education possible.”
North East ISD currently serves 57,000 students across 67 campuses, and is the second-largest district in San Antonio.
