
Nobody was hit when the weapon was discharged.
SAN ANTONIO — Nobody was injured when an officer pursuing a suspect involved in a family disturbance this morning discharged his weapon, police say.
This incident led to a large police presence outside of a home on the southwest-side of town.
Police were dispatched around 10:30 a.m. to the 3000 block of Ivy Ridge Lane near Highway 16 for reports of some sort of incident.
Police say a family disturbance involving a knife happened in the 8900 block of Heather Court on the south side of San Antonio.
During the disturbance, the 39-year-old suspect allegedly assaulted the victims with a knife, then fled from that home in a pickup truck.
Officers located the suspect’s vehicle and waited for more police units to arrive at the location. Police attempted a traffic stop , but the suspect did not pull over. Officers then initiated a pursuit and ended up at the home on Ivy Ridge Lane, where the suspect exited his vehicle and ran inside the home.
The officers followed the suspect into the home, attempting to apprehend the suspect. And then some at some point in time in inside the house, one officer discharged his firearm. Nobody was hit when the weapon was discharged.
The suspect was taken into custody and is facing possible aggravated assault charges.
Police are still investigating what the relationship is between the suspect and the other people involved in the disturbance.
Nobody was injured in the initial disturbance either.
