OFFICIAL | SEC softball championship canceled Oklahoma-Texas A&M declared co-champions

The cancellation alters the look of the 2025 national softball tournament.

ATHENS, Ga. — Mother Nature might be an Aggie fan.

Due to rain in Athens, Georgia, the SEC softball championship game between Texas A&M and Oklahoma at Jack Turner Stadium was deemed a no-contest. As a result, Texas A&M and Oklahoma will be declared 2025 SEC Softball Tournament Co-Champions.

This is the Aggies’ first softball SEC championship title in program history. A&M now awaits its postseason bid. Selection Sunday is slated for 6 pm CT on Sunday.

Texas A&M (45-9) advanced to the SEC Tournament title game for the first time in program history after defeating No. 3 seed Texas, 14-2, in the semifinals and No. 7 seed South Carolina, 12-4, in the quarterfinal round.

Through two games, A&M has set SEC Tournament records in runs (26) and RBI (25), while the 14-2 win against Texas is the largest margin of victory in the history of the SEC Tournament. A&M’s 14 runs against Texas were the most scored by a team in SEC Tournament history, surpassing their own record by two after scoring a dozen in the quarterfinal round.

A&M is 4-10 all-time at the SEC Tournament. Three of their four wins have come during the Trisha Ford era.

The Aggies have a +16 run differential in three SEC Tournament appearances under Ford, compared to a -11 run differential over eight appearances before 2023.

Individually, Amari Harper set an SEC Tournament single-game record, driving in a career-high six RBI against the Longhorns. Freshman KK Dement has nine RBI in two games, matching the record set by Skylar Wallace of Florida in 2024.
