Officials investigating possible terroristic threat at East Central High School

This investigation comes more than a year after a reported shooting on campus turned out to be a hoax.

SAN ANTONIO — Officials are investigating a possible terroristic threat at a local high school.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says the threat was allegedly linked to a post online showcasing several weapons and a threat to shoot up the campus at East Central High School in east Bexar County.

It’s still an active investigation by sheriff’s deputies after a student denied having any involvement with the alleged threat posted on Instagram.

This all started earlier this week when students reported the post to school administration.

They got district police involved, who requested BCSO deputies help with the investigation. Deputies say the post showed firearms with a caption indicating a potential shooting at East Central.

Investigators did link it to a high school student  who they believed was behind the post.

However, it was determined the student does not have a phone or electronic device to access social media. They also searched the student’s house but the firearms shown in the post were found.

This investigation comes more than a year after a reported shooting on campus turned out to be a hoax.

Officers swarmed the school as frightened parents waited outside before they realized the campus was targeted by a fake 911 call.

Initially believed to be a student, it was later determined the call came from outside the country.

As for the current investigation, deputies want to hear from you.

If you have any information on this threat, give BCSO a call.
