Officials: SAPD veteran accused of domestic violence turns himself in to sheriff’s office

A warrant was issued for the 15-year SAPD officer’s arrest in connection with a May 2023 incident, the department said.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio Police Department veteran who has been with the force for more than 15 years was placed on administrative duty amid accusations of domestic violence, according to authorities.

SAPD said in a press release that 38-year-old Grant Ruedemann, initially hired by the city in September 2010, turned himself in to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office after officials issued a warrant for his arrest. According to the department, the warrants stems from a May 2023 incident that now has Ruedemann facing a charge of assault/bodily injury to a family member.

Court records indicate he was arrested Tuesday and released the same day after posting bail. A judge had set his bond at $3,500.

SAPD says Ruedemann is currently assigned to the Bike Patrol Unit, adding that officials are conducting their own criminal and administrative probes. Officials added that the alleged 2023 incident happened while he was off-duty.

He is the fourth SAPD officer arrested in 2026.
