Officials say arson suspected in fire at automotive repair shop

Firefighters had to pry the doors open to work on extinguishing the flames.

SAN ANTONIO — Officials say arson is suspected in a fire at an auto shop northwest of downtown San Antonio.

SAFD responded to reports of a fire in the 1600 block of North Laredo Street just after 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters believe this is an arson case because someone set the tree on fire beside the store. 

A woman is known to stay inside the building, and she was taken for medical evaluation.

No other injuries were reported. 

Firefighters had to pry the doors open to work on extinguishing the flames. 

Officials say the business sustained a few thousand dollars in damages.
