COSHOCTON, Ohio — As more than 200 athletes prepare to represent Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, one Ohio company is ensuring the Stars and Stripes are ready for the world stage.
Annin Flagmakers, the nation’s largest flag manufacturer, produces about 67,000 American flags each week at its Coshocton facility, according to company officials. January is typically its busiest month.
Founded in 1847, Annin has supplied flags for some of America’s most historic moments — from draping President Abraham Lincoln’s casket to the Apollo 11 moon landing and military battlefields. “We take a lot of pride in what we do here,” said Bobbi Parks, Annin’s director of operations.
Employees say the work is deeply personal.
“My father lives three hours away. I sent him a flag and he flies it and says my daughter made this for him,” one worker said.
For Olympians, the flag represents more than fabric.
“When the national anthem is playing and the flag is getting raised, that’s the main moment I feel most connected with home,” said skier Mikaela Shiffrin.
Figure skater Jason Brown added, “When I stand on that podium it’s not about me. It’s about representing my country to the very, very best of my ability.”
Bradie Tennell, another Team USA athlete, described the feeling simply: “I just feel such overwhelming happiness and pride when I see it.”
As the Milan-Cortina Games approach, Annin’s flags will once again serve as a symbol of freedom, courage and national pride — draped across the shoulders of champions.
