Heads up, road trippers: the next time you’re traveling in or out of the Rio Grande Valley, you’ll soon have a new place to fill up your tank and grab a bite to eat. That’s because QuikTrip, the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based fueling station and convenience store company, is planning to open its first location in the Valley.
The $872,000 project will include all-new construction of an 8,292-square-foot convenience store and fuel pumps, according to TDLR. Currently, the build site, which lies where Raymondville’s main drag meets Interstate 69-E/U.S. 77, is nothing more than a vacant gravel lot. Willacy County property records show that the site spans a total of 6.37 acres valued at nearly $1.3 million.
Like Buc-ee’s, the homegrown Texas fuel and convenience store brand, QuikTrip is a privately owned company. It is currently valued at more than $11 billion, with more than 1,000 stores spread across 17 states, according to the company’s website. And like Bucc-ee’s, QuikTrip stores are known for being one-stop shops that offer safe and friendly places for people to fuel up both their vehicles and their stomachs.
QuikTrip kitchens offer everything from “grab-n-go” ready-to-eat foods like pastries, pizza slices, sandwiches, and donuts to filling lunch and dinner menu items, including made-to-order sandwiches, tacos and wraps. The kitchens also offer a wide assortment of drinks, from freshly brewed hot and iced coffees to fountain drinks to milkshakes.
