SAN ANTONIO — A 58-year-old Oklahoma man was sentenced to 50 years in prison after confessing to aggravated sexual assault of a child in a Comal County case, according to investigators.
The sentence was handed down in Comal County court after deputies launched an investigation into Ignacio Corona in June 2025.
According to investigators, the victim told a parent the abuse lasted for months. Detectives said Corona would lock himself in a room with the victim to prevent them from escaping.
Authorities said when the family confronted Corona about the allegations, he left Texas and returned to Oklahoma for a short time before eventually moving back to San Antonio.
During his first interview with investigators, deputies said Corona denied the allegations and questioned whether the victim was telling the truth. Investigators said he also suggested the victim may have been upset because he would not buy them things.
However, detectives said Corona later contacted investigators asking for a second interview. During that interview, authorities said Corona admitted he lied to both the family and investigators about the sexual assault. Corona told detectives he “couldn’t sleep” until he confessed and told the truth.
Corona also pleaded guilty to four counts of indecency with a child, each carrying a 20-year sentence. Officials said all sentences will run concurrently. Due to the age of the victim, Corona must serve at least half of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
