One dead, another injured in separate vehicle crashes involving a pedestrian

San Antonio police officers responded to two separate incidents involving vehicles hitting people Friday evening, December 22. The first crash took place at around 6 p.m. in the 2700 block of S. Zarzamora St. A person wearing dark clothing was reportedly crossing the street in a non-designated crossing area when a silver Jeep struck them, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

The driver immediately stopped and called 911. Officials responded to the location and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. At this time, the person has not been positively identified, and there are no criminal elements to this crash, according to SAPD.

A second crash took place around 6:50 p.m. on the I-10 access road near Ramsgate. Three people reportedly crashed a white vehicle into the highway’s metal railing before jumping out and running across the access road. Two were able to cross safely, but the third person was hit by a truck that was driving northbound, according to a KSAT report.

The driver of the truck stopped to help, and medical personnel transported the injured man to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. At this time, the two other people who fled the area have not been identified, and police are still investigating.
