SAN ANTONIO — One person is dead after a shooting Saturday morning on the south side, according to officials.
SAPD was called to the 500 block of Bristol Avenue just before 8:30 a.m.
Officials say a man was found lying in front of the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were able to make contact with the man’s girlfriend. She said that her son “may have gotten angry” with her boyfriend. According to the girlfriend, the son thought the man was physically abusing his mother and his daughter.
The girlfriend told the son nothing was going on, but she says the son “has mental problems.”
The girlfriend says she tried to warn her boyfriend and that maybe it was best to stay in his vehicle until the son calmed down.
Eventually, police say the son went into his vehicle and arrived at the location. Police aren’t sure what transpired next, but they believe the two may have met in the driveway and that’s when shots were fired at the man, fatally hitting him twice in the back and once in the head.
Police say they have the son “at a particular location” as they verify some facts. It’s unclear if he will be facing any charges.
