One Harlandale High School student in custody after weapon found, district officials say

Officials said at no time was there a threat to students or staff.

SAN ANTONIO — A student was placed in police custody after a weapon was found at Harlandale High School Thursday morning, according to the school district.

Officials said a student was found in possession of a weapon and the item was immediately confiscated. The student was then taken into custody. The district didn’t specify what kind of weapon was found.

Harlandale ISD praised the quick actions of the district’s police department and said students and staff were not threatened. Claims had suggested that multiple students were involved in the incident but district officials said those statements are not credible.

Officials said as a precaution, police were visibly present, which is standard protocol and normal campus operations continued as scheduled.

No other information was provided.
