One Houston athlete just landed a spot in the SI Swimsuit Issue

Alexa Massari of UH features in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s 60th anniversary edition, joining 38 women celebrated for their impact and achievements.

HOUSTON —  University of Houston diver Alexa Massari is making waves beyond the pool.

The 21-year-old redshirt sophomore from California is featured in the 60th anniversary edition of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Massari joins a diverse lineup of 38 women being celebrated for their achievements, impact, and presence in the 2025 issue, available on select newsstands beginning May 17.

Massari is a senior who competes for UH in the Big 12 Conference. Massari was voted Most Improved Diver by her teammates during the 2022–23 season.

Now, she’s stepping into a national spotlight that stretches far beyond collegiate athletics.

According to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, the 2025 issue continues its tradition of spotlighting women “shaping culture” and “showing up with passion and purpose.” The publication champions inclusivity and body positivity and features athletes, entertainers, models, and changemakers. Other notable names in this year’s issue include Olympic gold medalists Suni Lee and Jordan Chiles, gymnast and LSU star Olivia Dunne, and actress Salma Hayek Pinault, one of the four cover models.

“Every single woman included this year brings with her a unique and powerful reason for being featured in the issue,” said MJ Day, editor in chief of SI Swimsuit. “Whether it’s about what she represents, the impact she’s making, or the change she’s driving in her own life and the world around her, these women show up with passion and purpose.”

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2025 issue is available in print and online.
