Police say a man attempting to exit struck sand barrels, causing his vehicle to overturn on the east side early Saturday.

SAN ANTONIO — A 50-year-old man was taken to a hospital early Saturday after his vehicle rolled over when he struck sand barrels near an exit on Interstate 10, San Antonio police said.

Officers were called to the westbound lanes of I-10 at North Foster Road on the city’s east side about 2:55 a.m. Saturday for a major crash involving a single vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found the driver, who told them he attempted to exit at an unsafe time and hit the sand barrels at the exit, causing the vehicle to roll over, police said.

No major injuries were reported at the scene. The man was transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.
