One man dead after major two-vehicle crash along State Highway 46 in Seguin, authorities say

The crash happened Monday morning.

SAN ANTONIO — One man is dead following a major two-vehicle crash, that ultimately closed a section of State Highway 46 Monday morning, according to a post by Seguin authorities.

Seguin Police responded to a collision involving an 18-wheeler on State Highway 46 at the Guadalupe River around 7:50 a.m. 

Officers said a 2013 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound crashed head-on with a 2007 Freightliner, which was traveling southbound. The semitruck was fully engulfed in flames upon impact. The driver of the Freightliner was pulled to safety and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was the sole occupant.  

The driver of the Ford F-150, identified as 26-year-old Joshua Green was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was identified as Matthew Payton, 25. Payton sustained critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. 

According to the post, State Highway 46 at Guadalupe River was completely closed and authorities asked drivers to find alternate routes. 

The Seguin Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
