24-year-old George Amaro has been charged with murder.
SAN ANTONIO — One person has been killed in a shooting at an apartment complex on the west side Friday afternoon.
First responders were called out to the 8300 block of Potranco Road, near the intersection with West Military Drive and Ingram Road, around 12:30 p.m.
Police say an argument started between the father of a woman’s 6-year-old child and another man described as the woman’s “significant other.” The child’s father pulled out a gun and shot the other man, officials said.
The man, identified as 27-year-old Frank Vallejo, was pronounced dead at the scene after being found in a stairway area. The suspect took off with the child into another apartment in the same complex, police said. He was later found and taken into custody. The child was found safe and unharmed.
The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old George Amaro, who has been charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary with intent to commit another felony.
