Over 2 million people attend State Fair of Texas, 400K less than last year

Another State Fair of Texas has ended and now we know how many people made their way to Fair Park.

DALLAS — An estimated two million people attended the State Fair of Texas this year, marking one of the lowest years for attendance in a decade.

After thin crowds prompted questions about State Fair attendance this year, we now have official numbers to compare with years past. In 2025, the State Fair of Texas welcomed more than 2 million people through the gates of Fair Park, fair officials said in a press release.

Last year, about 2.38 million people attended the fair.

That is one of the lowest attendance records in the last decade. Midway through the year, a video depicting sparse crowds drew social media comments expressing frustration over the cost of the fair. Director of Communications for the State Fair of Texas, Taylor Pulfer, previously acknowledged that inflation and the economy had an impact on both its vendors and visitors, but said the fair can be affordable for families.

“At its core, the State Fair of Texas is about bringing people together to celebrate the spirit and culture that make our state one of a kind,”  Mitchell Glieber, State Fair of Texas president, said. “This year, we’ve seen countless moments of joy, connection, and pride that capture what the State Fair is all about.”

The most attended fair day was Saturday, Oct. 11, the day of the Red River Rivalry

Over the past ten years, attendance has ranged between 2 million and 2.5 million. In 2018, 2.049 million people attended the fair, the previous low over the past ten years. Because the fair did not specify the exact number of attendees, it’s unclear if fewer or more people attended the fair this year.

Here’s a full breakdown of fair attendance since 2016:

  • 2025: Over 2,000,000
  • 2024: 2,385,855
  • 2023: 2,341,449
  • 2022: 2,547,289
  • 2021: 2,202,689
  • 2020: N/A
  • 2019: 2,514,637
  • 2018: 2,049,118
  • 2017: 2,250,433

The State Fair of Texas also offered other metrics to quantify the impact of the State Fair. An estimated 153,000 pounds of food were collected during the fair and donated to the North Texas Food Bank, and 26,670 pounds of fresh produce were donated by Big Tex Urban Farms.

More than 550,000 Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs were purchased during the 24-day run, and 8,352 individual cookies were entered into the State Fair’s cookie contest.
