SAN ANTONIO — An overturned 18-wheeler shut down a key connector ramp in central San Antonio on Friday morning, causing traffic to be diverted at one of downtown’s busiest highway interchanges.
A San Antonio Fire Department spokesman said the 18-wheeler was carrying a load of bees.
The crash occurred at Finesilver Curve, the connector ramp from Interstate 35 south to Interstate 10 west. Authorities closed the ramp as firefighters worked at the scene, blocking portions of I‑35 and I‑10.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to a local hospital.
Transportation officials warned drivers to expect delays in the area. Traffic on the closed ramp was diverted back to Interstate 35 south or to Exit 157A at San Pedro Avenue.
There was no immediate estimate for when the ramp would reopen.
