Owen McCown throws 4 TDs as UTSA mobs UIW 48-20 in the ‘Hometown Showdown’ in San Antonio

RB Robert Henry Jr. was no slouch either as he embarrassed the Cardinals on the ground with 144 yards rushing and two touchdowns on just 14 carries.

SAN ANTONIO — The Roadrunners mobbed the Cardinals Saturday afternoon in what felt like a must-win game after starting the season 0-2.

UTSA and Owen McCown wasted no time on their first drive and got on the board early with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Devin McCuin.

McCown got into a groove and never fell out of it as he stacked another touchdown on their next possession after a four-yard pass to tight-end Dan Dishman.

Running back Robert Henry Jr. didn’t want McCown to be the only one getting the action; so he decided to take the ball for a 74-yard touchdown run to kick off the second half.

UIW’s quarterback EJ Colson answered and softened the sting a bit with a 38-yard touchdown pass to Chedon James just three plays after Henry’s monster run.

McCown continued to spread the ball around as he launched a 77-yard touchdown pass to AJ Wilson, making it UTSA’s third wide receiver to score on Saturday.

Midway through the third quarter Colson found James again, this time for a 15-yard touchdown pass.

The score was 38-14 heading into the 4th quarter.

Colson and James proved to be a lethal duo as they connected for a third touchdown pass late in the fourth.

Coming full circle, McCuin helped round out McCown’s spectacular day with a 24-yard connection for his fourth touchdown pass of the afternoon.

UTSA beat UIW 48-20.

The Roadrunners play Colorado State next Saturday, Sept. 20, at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins.

The Cardinals play Northern Arizona next Saturday, Sept. 20, at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff.
