NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — UPDATE 3/23
We are happy to report that someone just adopted Ozzy, so he is no longer forgotten! He went home to his new family. We wish him the best with his new friend.

Our “Forgotten Friends” series showcases a dog or cat each week that has spent time at an area shelter, just waiting for someone to notice them and bring them home to love.
This week’s Forgotten Friend is Ozzy, a two-year-old Shepherd mix found as a stray and brought to the Humane Society in New Braunfels (HSNBA).
Ozzy has been adopted out twice and brought back twice. Once because he was no longer a puppy and the second time the family just couldn’t afford to take care of him anymore.
He’s not a big fan of cats but gets along great with other dogs. He also gets along great with kids.
“Ozzy’s previous home had kids and he interacted very well with them, but he would probably be happiest with an active, curious home looking for a friend that shares their exuberance for life,” said shelter staff.
He loves to go on adventures and has a lot of energy as well as being curious of his surroundings.
“Ozzy is easily corrected and seems eager to learn,” said shelter staff. “He has high energy and is super curious. He can pull hard on a leash until he gets back in the groove.”
He loves being petted and getting treats. He has a heart of gold and is very affectionate.
Ozzy’s healthy, vaccinated and has already been neutered. He just needs a loving home now!
“Ozzy really needs a loving home with people who’ll give him some TLC and good groceries,” said shelter staff.
You can submit your application for Ozzy right here: https://www.hsnba.org/adopt/adopt-a-dog/.
Or visit the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area located at 3353 Morningside Drive in New Braunfels, call them at (830) 629-5287 or email them at GeneralInfo@HSNBA.org.
The fees to adopt are $120 for large dogs, $200 for small dogs and puppies, $100 for kittens, $50 for adult cats.
They are open:
- Monday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Saturdays: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Sundays and Holidays: Closed to the public
For whoever adopts Ozzie, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare & Spa will be lending a paw by offering them a free “Glow Up” Day at the Spa, which includes a massage therapy bath and Pawdicure. One of Lucy’s most cherished core values is to continue Lucy’s legacy of giving back to pups in need, as Lucy herself was a rescue!

CLICK HERE to see what they need most. Two things they really need right now are potty pads and peanut butter! They use the peanut butter to stuff puzzle toys. It gives the dogs something fun to do while they are stuck inside due to the cold. Just make sure it doesn’t have xylitol in it which is toxic to dogs!
As with all shelters, cash is always appreciated, since money comes in handy to pay the veterinary bills associated with saving all the animals in need.

Remember when you adopt a shelter pet, you save two lives… the one you bring home with you and the one that now will be saved because the shelter has more room.
